We have witnessed much change in the village over the last two years! Voters should be very proud of the community they are creating. Not that much has changed on the surface, but behind the scenes, the change is substantial and positive. Ultimately, the changes have been great for transparency and will help chart a future that will be better for Salem Lakes.
Many people in the community have seen some of the changes such as a new administrator with an incredible management background, a new village attorney, a new treasurer, a new clerk, HR personnel for staff and the fire department, the hiring of a new fire chief and assistant fire chief, numerous new fire department personnel, a new public works director, many new members on our various commissions, the newly formed Economic Development Committee, the new village court attorney, and of course the new village court judge. This change has been dramatic, but the village was still operating like a town when it needed more structure to venture into the future. For the residents of Salem Lakes to be properly represented, modernization is inevitable. With that being said, as the Village moves forward, we must have gatekeepers to ensure that the Village does not head down a path of higher taxation and uncontrolled development. With Bucur, Poli, and Barhyte on the board, the village will be in good hands to offer real pushback on poor and non-beneficial ideas for the Village of Salem Lakes.
On a closing note, in the past many members of the previous board had an attitude that serious issues could just be kicked down the road. The result is significant issues that now have to be dealt with if Salem Lakes wants a positive future. The public should no longer accept that past passive mentality. The village needs leaders like Bucur, Poli, and Barhyte to protect Salem Lakes from poor decisions or indecisiveness. Please support your community by coming to the meetings and getting involved. The new board members welcome the involvement of the community! Show up and make your voice heard so you can help make a difference.
Please vote on April 1st to Keep Salem Lakes Board. With your help, Salem Lakes can provide a better future for all. We thank everyone who has read our opinions on why Salem Lakes needs Rita Bucur, Bill Barhyte, and Pete Poli to stay on the board. Please vote from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at your preferred polling location. Thank you!
