1. Bill has been a true budget hawk for the Village. He always questions expenses and looks for alternate ways to reduce spending. As the Village enters a critical time with its sights on development and a more efficient way to run the government, it is crucial to have a possible dissenting voice on future expenses. Bill does not automatically vote “no” on additional expenditures, yet he conducts a cost-benefit analysis on whether or not funding certain endeavors is in the best interest of the taxpayer.
2. Bill Barhyte was a great asset during the fire department investigation that led to much-needed changes in the fire department and fire commission.
3. Bill was a huge supporter of the new Village property maintenance policy. Before this policy, selective enforcement of ordinances was taking place which was negatively impacting numerous residents. Now, with the new policy, which was created by President Bucur and Trustee Poli, an additional check was put in place that stopped unnecessary interference by the Village into taxpayers' lives.
4. Bill has been instrumental in creating policies for the fire department, based upon years of experience as a fireman, that have resulted in positive changes.
5. Bill has been endorsed by President Bucur and is also supported by the majority of the board in his run for re-election.

It is rare to find someone who has such a successful career in the private and public sectors. When Bill is not giving back to his community he is operating a family business of over 87 years in excavation and landscaping. Running that type of business gives Bill extensive knowledge of construction and development. This is the type of expertise that the Village of Salem Lakes currently does not have and needs now more than ever. Bill offers an abundance of knowledge from a dedicated life of service to this community that cannot be taken for granted. Bill Barhyte is the fresh face that will bring forth innovation, development, and prosperity to this village.
